| | Troop 57 is a large and dynamic Boy Scout Troop with over 90 Eagle Scouts since our original charter. Thanks to our active boy leadership, supportive parents, and generous adult volunteers we promote an environment of fun, adventure, and leadership development that teaches our young men the values and morals they need to become outstanding citizens in our community and nation. We meet Monday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, 333 Cedar Road in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, Virginia. Scoutmaster:

Timberline Family Ski Trip |
It is time once again for our Family Ski Trip to Timberline Resort in Davis, WV. This is a family trip (meaning everyone is responsible for their travel to and from the resort; no boys can attend alone). Here's the pertinent information:
- Trip Date: March 23-25. (we ski Sat. and Sun.)
- Cost: $109.00 per person
- price includes 2 nights in the bunkhouse(Fri and Sat.)
- 2 days ski rental and lift tickets (Sat. and Sun.)
- 5 meals (Saturday BLD and Sunday BL)
- 1 beginner ski lesson(advanced lessons and snowboard lessons are $25)
- A deposit of $55 per person is due by January 23rd. Make checks payable to Troop 57.

Maine High Adventure Canoeing |
|
Mark your calendar for the 2012 Maine High Adventure Wilderness Canoeing trip scheduled for July 21 - August 4. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to canoe across a wilderness area surrounded by a stately pine forest where you see moose, dear, eagle, bear, loon, snowshoe hare and numerous other wildlife? Would you like to sail across a lake, white water or pick wild blueberries to make a cobbler? The days are warm for swimming and the nights are cool for sleeping. Each day brings an exciting new adventure. Getting there and back is half the fun. Your touring takes you through many parts of our beautiful country. Tours may include L. L. Bean, Baseball Hall of Fame, Statue of Liberty, Boston and Scout Museum. Once or twice along the way, you will have an evening out at a fancy restaurant. See attached flier for more information. |

Combined Beginners Hike & Troop Freeze-O-Ree |
|
Since the Council is not having a true Freeze-O-Ree this year, the boys and adult leaders have decided to have our own by combining it with the Beginner Hike at Merchant's Mill Pond State Park in North Carolina on Jan. 28 & 29. If you have already signed up for the Beginner Hike, you do not need to sign up for the Freeze-O-Ree. Cost will be $10 and you will need to sign up at our meeting on Monday, Jan. 23. Yes, Mr. Jeff Layne has invited "Wilbur" the pig to join us for dinner and will be our "guest of honor." Hikers and campers will come together on Saturday afternoon to enjoy the feast. Please review the Beginner's Hike Permission Slip or the Freeze-O-Ree Permission Slip for more details. |
