Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 57 - Great Bridge, Chesapeake, Virginia |
| Any River, Any Mountain, Any Trail...Bring It On! | |
| | Troop 57 is a large and dynamic Boy Scout Troop with over 90 Eagle Scouts since our original charter. Thanks to our active boy leadership, supportive parents, and generous adult volunteers we promote an environment of fun, adventure, and leadership development that teaches our young men the values and morals they need to become outstanding citizens in our community and nation. We meet Monday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, 333 Cedar Road in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, Virginia. Scoutmaster:

Summer camp is right around the corner! We need final payments for summer camp as soon as possible.. Summer Camp will be July 15-21 at Camp Olmsted in the Allegheny Mountains near Lexington, VA. Camp Olmsted offers a number of Eagle required and other merit badges. All 1st and 2nd year scouts will have their programs at Camp Olmsted and meet with their Scout Masters to plan merit badges. You can learn more by reading the Summer Camp Permission Slip and the 2012 Program and Merit Badge Options page. Please contact Mr. Lee Curling if you have any questions. |

Trips, Money, and Permission Slips |
|
One of the challenges of a large troop is handing the finances, particularly with so many activities and camping trips scheduled throughout the year. Therefore, it's important that you complete all parental permission slips and return them with the associated funds at least two weeks prior to any scheduled trip. This will help us make the necessary arrangements ahead of time and ensure that the trips run smoothly. |

We had to change the date of the Basic Skills #2 Weekend from May 19 & 20 to June 9 & 10. It will be held at Northwest River Park and Mr. Randy Scully will be the adult leader in charge. That Saturday is the same day we build the rope bridge for the Cub Scouts. Read more on the Basic Skills #2 Permission Slip. |

For the scouts going to summer camp we like for everyone to have basically the same foot locker otherwise they do not fit in the trailer properly. There is a Contico foot locker that the troop uses - here is a link for it from Wal-Mart. As you pack your clothes in your foot locker make sure you put your clothes in bags in case it rains so your clothes don't get wet. Also, you want to make sure that you pack your swimsuit and towel on the very top of your locker because as soon as we get there we will be taking the swim test. You may want to pack that in a different bag and bring it with yourself in case the trailer is late and you will definitely have your swim trunks. |
