Chartered by Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, Chesapeake, Virginia

Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 57 - Great Bridge, Chesapeake, Virginia
Any River, Any Mountain, Any Trail...Bring It On!

Troop 57 is a large and dynamic Boy Scout Troop with over 75 Eagle Scouts since our original charter. Thanks to our active boy leadership, supportive parents, and generous adult volunteers we promote an environment of fun, adventure, and leadership development that teaches our young men the values and morals they need to become outstanding citizens in our community and nation.

We meet Monday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, 333 Cedar Road in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, Virginia.

God and Church Class

Karen Higgins will be teaching the God and Church class for Scouts in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades starting Jan 19th. We will meet Tuesday evenings 7-8:30 PM for 6 weeks. This is a Protestant curriculum from the PRAY (Programs of Religious Activities with Youth) organization. Scouts will grow in faith while learning about church worship and ministries. This will include daily Bible reading for 21 days and helping with a community service project with a church ministry.  The class will be held at the office of Chesapeake Community of Hope Lutheran Church, 209 Dominion Blvd. If Scouts currently attend a church, some of the work will be done with their own churches. The cost is $18 and includes all materials and the medallion award. If you're interested, please review the attached flyer and sign up by Jan 13th so we can get the workbooks.

Family Ski Trip

The Troop Family Ski Trip will be March 26th-28th, 2010. This is a great trip that the entire family is welcome to attend. Boys who wish to attend but have no family members going must have another family adopt them for the weekend. We will once again be going to the Timberline Resort in Davis, West Virginia. It is about a five hour drive. The cost is $89.99 per person. This includes 2 nights in the bunkhouse, 2 days lift tickets, 2 days ski rental, one ski lesson and 5 meals. It is an awesome price and a great time! We will also work on the Snow sports merit badge for anyone interested.  Please see the attached sheet for additional information.

Summer Camp Registration

Summer Camp will be July 18-24 at Camp Ottari in the Blue Ridge Mountain Council at a cost of $385 per Scout. Camp Ottari offers Eagle required merit badges including Swimming, Lifesaving, Camping, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science and Communications. Also offered is BSA Lifeguard. All 1st and 2nd year scouts will have their programs at Camp Ottari and meet with their Assistant Scoutmasters to plan merit badges. For 3rd/4th year scouts we have slots available at Mountain Man, Claytor Lake and Fish Camp; there are additional fees of $40 for Mountain Man and Claytor Lake and $20 for Fish Camp.  Please review the Registration Form for more details (and return the completed form and money if you wish to participate).  Additional Summer Camp forms and links can be found on the Forms page and in the Reminders box in the upper-right.
