Updated December 2011

In attaining the rank of Life Scout, you have had the opportunity to learn and master many skills. You’ve hiked and camped in good and not-so-good weather. You’ve learned to take care of yourself and others in the out-of-doors, as well as in your home community.

Before you now is the opportunity to master yet another set of skills. These skills are encompassed in the requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout. One of these requirements is your demonstration of leadership skills. You do so by planning and carrying out an Eagle Scout leadership service project.

Here are some resources to help you on this journey:

Tips for Potential Eagle Projects

  • The project must benefit your community, church, school, or other worthy non-for-profit organization.
  • The project will require significant planning.
  • Execution of the project must involve leading people including a minimum of 2 adults. A small patrol should be the minimum (around 6 people) and can be more. In other words, your project must have leadership ...you have to show that you completed the project by not only being the lead person on the project but by leading a group of people in the execution of your project.
  • The results should have a lasting impact. For example, will the outcome of the project be in place 5 years from now?
